In Basil we keep Basil Curly, Basil Ibis (purple), Basil Mammolo, Basil Piccio, Basil Profumo, Basil Riviera Ligure, Basil Smooth leaf, Basil Sweet Leaf. The latter specifically for pots. For more information about the different types of Basil, feel free to contact the office.
Basil Garibaldi has a medium plant size and a strong branch structure producing many side shoots for better yield and is slow to bolt. The leaves are very thick and dark green in colour, medium sized, oval convex shape. Garibaldi has excellent shelf life with a particularly intense flavour. Due to the very little lemon taste, it is preferred by the Italian pesto producers. Garibaldi can be produced for cut leaves for the fresh and processing market. Garibaldi has IR to Peronospora Belbahrii and Fusarium.
In Chives we keep Broad Leaf Chives and Fine Leaf Chives. Broad Leaf Chives often is referred to as Garlic Chives and the Fine Leaf Chives as French Chives.
Goliath F1 was bred for uniformity, speed and bulb colour. Goliath F1 has a brilliant white coloured bulb with crisp crunchy flesh that has excellent taste, with a medium compact plant perfect for summer production. Goliath F1 shows good field tolerance to over maturing.
Fennel Romy was selected for uniformity, rapid growth and taste when producing baby fennel for the local and export market. If all goes well and in the summer season, Fennel Romy takes about 50 to 55 days to mature from seeding.
We stock a variety of different herbs, including Garden Cress, Watercress, Chervil, Corn Salad, Dandelion, Dill, Endives, Fennel, Lemon Balm, Marjoram, Origanum, Rosemary, Sage, Sorrel Red & Green, Tarragon and Thyme.
In the Parsley stable we can offer 3 different types of parsley. Berlica, Italian and Moss Curled. Berlica is a rooted parsley. Italian is the trusted flat leaf parsley, and Arava is the frilly Moss Curled leaf type. Whe have treated and untreated seeds of both Italian Flat Leaf and Arava Moss Curled.
In Tarragon we keep the standard Russian Tarragon which grows from seeds and becomes a bush roughly 1.2m tall in ideal conditions. Russian Tarragon is a fairly hardy plant and should grow just about anywhere. Russian Tarragon is best suited for culinary purposes as it has a good aroma and great flavour.
In Rocket we keep both Wild and Cultivated Rocket. We have the Common Cultivated and Common Wild Rocket as well as a Wild Rocket for Summer Heat with Slow bolting properties and one for Winter production. We also have a Wild Rocket suitable for once-off mechanical pick and All Year Round Production.
